In 1980 Randy Whiteman purchased North American Radiator (NAR). There was a name change to North American Repairs in 2014. This was to let the public know that we didn't just do radiators and we did general auto & truck repairs.
For 40 years Randy operated NAR with honesty and amazing business ethics. Unfortunately we lost Randy June of 2020.
Here is where I come into the picture. Starting in 1991 I was bothering this sarcastic shop owner for a job. He would not hire me until I was 16 because he needed a delivery driver. Almost immediately after I was legal to drive I was back here bothering him again and was hired. From 1991 until going out of state for school in 1994 I worked for NAR. Anytime I came home, I helped around the shop and stayed active with the happenings of NAR and Randy. Around 1999 Randy needed some help at the shop and I came back. I stayed here until about 2001, then for the last 19 years I was basically on call. When he needed help or had questions, I was always ready to help him. For some reason this man meant a lot to me and I treasured what I learned from him.
When Randy got ill, we talked about ways to continue the shop. Eventually it came out that he had hoped for a long time that I would be one of the couple people that he wished to carry on NAR. Before his passing he and his family gave me the blessing to continue NAR, U-haul also agreed to continue using this location. In early June, after the shop being closed for over a month, we started the clean up. Of course due to the Covid crisis, things were delayed. We officially reopened as Adam's North American Repairs, LLC on July 13, 2020. We still do all the same work as before, maybe a little more now.
With the help of my life partner Jes "The Boss" pushing me, our kids Aiden, MaKenzie, Mags, Christian (co-worker), and some close friends we were able to get the shop back to working order in what seemed like record time.
I learned a lot from Randy. Aside from his sense of humor rubbing off on me, his honesty and ethics when it came to customers needs is one trait I am thankful for that he passed on to me. I am a fan of setting goals. My main goal with the shop is to provide quality, honest, affordable services to each customer. I grew up in this area, I have a lot of connections in this area, and I value my reputation more than money.
So, stop by and visit. If you been here before, come see the new paint. Even see the top of the desk (if you know you know). We hope to serve you, your family, and your friends for many years.
Thank you,
Adam & Jes
